We loved this wine store, you can sit at the bar and try all of the wines, the bar tenders are SO helpful and you can try lots of different to decide what you like. The prices are very reasonable for great wines and they have a large selection to purchase downstairs, they also provide worldwide shipping. Fab place

I believe this is the best wine shop in Madrid. They helped me find a couple bottles to make me love Spanish wine. Success. No problem with English and I learned today you can drink a bottle after purchasing onsite. We will test that feature tonight before dinner. Here is a pic of the gems I got on my first visit.

great store but I am extremely disappointed with the lack of wine knowledge in the staff there-we both speak Spanish (my boyfriend is Spanish and I speak Spanish and have been working in wine industry for over a decade) so there wasn't any confusion in what we were asking for. I asked if they had any Cremants (French sparkling wine that is much more affordable than Champagne and typically dry-you can get a great Cremant for 13 Euros where as a good Champagne will cost upwards of 30) particularly a dry Cremant d'Alsace or Bourgogne. Now I have lived in Madrid for 2 years and have only ever seen a Cremant served one place and sold no other place so we didn't expect them to say they had one but the woman helping us said 'oh-we have this you will love it it's really good!'

We are now stuck with the 2nd bottle and will never drink it as it doesn't even qualify as wine.

I have a long background in wine sales and wine management and the first rule of selling wine to people that they will like-it to ask them what they like typicall. If they are looking for dry wines and you want to suggest to them a strange low alcohol sweet red sparkling wine that is not at all typical of the country and is not at all what they are asking for you are a very bad salesperson indeed.

Again-keep in mind I was looking for a dry sparkling wine from France. She handed us the bottle and we saw a 13 euro price tag (typical for Cremant) so excitedly-thinking we'd finally found our dry sparkling French wine for New Year's and Christmas night we grabbed 2 bottles.

We opened up the 1st bottle on Christmas night to celebrate and we see..............a RED SWEET SPARKLING WINE!!!!!!After further inspection we see it is a 7.5% alcohol wine (this is NOT a Cremant or anything even close to a cremant). We were so unebelievably disappointed that 1) We had waited to toast with this horrible wine 2) we had taken the recommendation of this woman in this wine shop that appeared to be a high quality place with knowledgeable staff 3) we had bought 2 bottles!

The sales people speak English and are very helpful. One of their first questions was how much I wanted to spend per bottle. They were able to recommend wines and liquor from the regions we visited. They have a tasting area upstairs so you can sample from a small selection of wines. I was happy with the wines they suggested and enjoyed conversing with the staff.

Ask them first the basic questions such as 'do you like sweet wines?' 'have you ever tried this strange low alcohol sparkling red wine from X region?" to make sure that they would even be interested in something so different from what they are asking for. This lack of knowledge of both sales and wine are not ok in such a major wine retailer.

Pretty nice liquor store! Mainly sells wine but can find hard stuff as well. Nice personnel and if you're having a meal at someone's house w/o a doubt you'll find good options at decent prices.
