  went to visit during free wednesday, not many people though so it was an enjoyable and quiet visit. Has 3 floors. Might take you 2-3 hours to see everything. The building itself is beautiful too!!!

  This museum is hardly ever visited. It has a mix of minor artists and the greats like Goya, el Greco and Sorolla amongst others..

  This is like the Prado's quiet cousin, but it's almost as good. It attracts few visitors and on the Sunday I went it was like having a private viewing. There's lots of superb paintings and on the top floor it moves to a more modern flavour rather than images of religion, battles and the rich and famous.

  Substantially more lightly visited than the 'big three' art museums of Madrid, the Real Academia is well-worth a visit. Free the 1st Wednesday of the month, and even then is lightly trafficked. Expect to spend between three and four hours to fully appreciate the collection. Would also be well-worth the admission charge. The collection is particularly strong in 17th through 19th century art.
