  I love this park. Beautiful and a great place for a stroll, or a run, if you are so inclined. Try the boats on the lake, or just sit anywhere and enjoy the scenery and/or people watching. There are cafes and restaurants in inside the Retiro park. Just outside the park you will find more Madrid sights to see. One of my favorite places in Madrid - and possibly the most awesome park I have visited anywhere. Must go. P.S. You might also like to know that it is 100% free to enter the park.

  There's also the historic remnants of the park's zoo, which is located near the public library (which is of its self a beautiful building.)

  This is a beautiful park, filled with wonderful attractions for the family to enjoy. My wife and i spent an afternoon walking through and enjoyed every moment, I imagine this is a fun place to visit whether you are a local or a traveler. You do need to spend the time, though, in order to enjoy it. If yo like pretty arks, this is for you!

  If, and there's also a lake (pond) that you can rent row boats to row in.

  At night there are plenty of lights on the main roads through the park and plenty of dog walkers as well so it can be a viable route across the city.

  Very lovely park with lots of different areas of attraction, like the Rose garden, and different fountains and statues.

  El Retiro is massive with plenty of variety from lakes to woodland, to formal gardens, and grottos. There are even a couple of event spaces maintained by the Reina Sofia to pop into for a quick hit of art.

  Definitely one of my most favorite places in Madrid. There are a lot of things you can do here: from visiting one of the exhibitions, having a coffee in a kiosk, rowing a boat or just simply taking a refreshing stroll down the beautiful garden. The air is so fresh here.

  I wish there was a park like this where I live. I've been here in summer and winter and found it equally pleasant each time. At the weekend it seems that all of Madrid is in the park walking, relaxing, and rollerblading but there are still places to find some peace and quiet.
